Ben Whittaker is already making for lost time.

An opponent was confirmed for Whittaker's heavily speculated placement on the undercard of this weekend's Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua rematch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The charismatic 2020 Olympic Silver medalist from Birmingham, England will take on former amateur rival Peter Nosic in a six-round light heavyweight contest.

“It’s great to have Ben back out so quickly on such a big show," Ben Shalom, Whittaker's promoter and founder/CEO of BOXXER stated Monday.

The bout comes just three weeks after 'B£NZO'—who is trained by SugarHill Steward—enjoyed a successful pro debut in a second-round knockout of Gregg O'Neill on a July 30 BOXXER show in Bournemouth, England. The quick turnaround atones for the delayed start to Whittaker's pro career after recovering from shoulder surgery following his brilliant Olympic run last summer in Tokyo.

Placement on the August 20 show makes sense, as Whittaker fights under Joshua's 258 MGT label. The 25-year-old is also a hot enough commodity to where even placement on the preliminary undercard will add that much more appeal to this weekend's show, which airs on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on DAZN elsewhere around the world, including the U.S.

"His debut in Bournemouth was very impressive and we’re looking forward to a massive future," stated Shalom.  “I’m sure we will see another entertaining performance in Jeddah and we look forward to seeing him boxing again on home soil very soon.”

Headlining the show, Ukraine's Usyk (19-0, 13KOs) defends his WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight titles against England's Joshua (24-2, 22KOs) in a rematch of their clash last September 24 in East London. Usyk—a former undisputed cruiserweight king—proved once again to be boxing's ultimate road warrior, pulling off the upset win over Joshua via unanimous decision to become a two-division champion.
