Bektemir Melikuziev has fully resumed his ‘Bully’ ways.

The 2016 Olympic Silver medalist from Shoimbek, Uzbekistan extended his current three-fight win streak with a one-sided, third-round knockout of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Sladan Janjanin (32-11, 24KOs). Melikuziev scored three knockdowns in as many rounds, eventually producing a stoppage at 2:18 of round three in their DAZN-televised opener Saturday evening at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Melikuziev—who trains out of Indio, California—didn’t waste any time targeting the body of Janjanin, who was fighting for the fourth time in 2022 and second time in just three weeks. The Bosnian journeyman was floored barely 0:30 into the DAZN opener, absorbing a wicked left hand downstairs. Melikuziev spent the rest of the round stalking Jananin and throwing pure heat.

Janjanin found himself back on the canvas midway through round two. Melikuziev took the attack upstairs, cracking Janjanin with a left hand and right hook to produce his second knockdown in less than five minutes. His instinct to throw every punch with knockout intentions prompted head trainer Joel Diaz to suggest punching in combination to better set up the eventual knockout.

The advice was applied, with Janjanin spending round three under siege and increasingly unable to defend himself. A winging left hand to the liver provided Melikuziev with his third knockdown of the fight. An ensuing flurry of power shots left Jananin (32-12, 24KOs) defenseless, forcing referee Neal Young to stop the contest.

Melikuziev improves to 10-1 (8KOs), including a pair of knockout wins in his 2022 campaign. The brusing Uzbek wins his third straight following his lone career defeat in a stunning third-round knockout to Gabriel Rosado last June in El Paso.

Headlining the show, local hero and rising contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. (18-0, 18KOs) faces England’s Michael McKinson (22-0, 2KOs) in a scheduled 12-round welterweight title eliminator.
