On Saturday night former two-division champion Rances Barthelemy (27-1) takes on Robert Easter Jr. (21-1) for the vacant WBA "regular" lightweight title at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  The fight headlines a Showtime tripleheader. The broadcast will also include Viktor Postal facing Mohamed Mimoune in a super lightweight eliminator and rising heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba squaring off against Michael Wallisch.

Top pound-for-pound fighter Vasiliy Lomachenko holds the WBA "super" lightweight title in addition to the WBO lightweight title. If Barthelemy emerges victorious, he would love to get a chance to test his skills against the Ukrainian sensation.

"Definitely. I would obviously love a fight against Lomachenko. That is why we get in this sport, to get the big fights versus the big names. If I could get a fight against Lomachenko or Mikey Garcia that is what I want. I won't wait around a long time though because my dream is to be a three-division champion so I will be moving to 140 pounds soon," Barthelemy recently told BoxingScene.com.

Easter is very tall for the division, standing 5'11" and towered over most of his previous opponents. However, Barthelemy doesn't look at Easter's height and reach advantages as disadvantages for himself.  In fact he said that he actually performs better against taller fighters and expects to put on a great performance.

"I always feel good fighting against tall fighters. I don't have problems with tall fighters. I feel more uncomfortable versus shorter fighters. I don't know why but I feel faster and lighter versus taller fighters and for some reason it is harder for me versus the shorter fighters," Barthelemy explained.

Easter will be fighting for the first time since his July loss against the aforementioned Mikey Garcia.  Easter was hit the canvas and was outclassed in the fight.  Barthelemy said that he saw a lot of mistakes that he can take advantage of but wouldn't reveal them and said that we will see exactly what he is talking about on Saturday night.

"I saw a lot of errors that Easter made but I can't say what they are for obvious reasons.  You are going to see on fight night the adjustments that I make," Barthelemy stated.
