Angel and Chavez Barrientes have finally come of age to expand their talents to their home base.

The twin boxers from Las Vegas by way of Honolulu are set to appear in a ring in the United States for the first time in their respective careers. The occasion comes in separate bouts on Saturday's edition of Premier Boxing Champion (PBC) on FS1, which airs live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

"It’s an honor to fight in my country," Chavez Barrientes told BoxingScene.com ahead of his scheduled six-round junior featherweight clash with Ivan Varela. "I have been training hard for this day and it feels good to see my hard work is paying off."

The bout marks the first for the twins since appearing on the same March 13 show in Tijuana, where both made their respective pro debuts four months prior at age 17. Ángel and Chavez both celebrated their 18th birthday on August 3, making them eligible to fight anywhere free from age restriction in the United States. Unfortunately, the first such opportunity comes without fans in attendance, although still offering the chance to showcase their talents to the benefit of home viewers tuning in to the telecast.

"We have to do what we have to do, even if it means fighting in an empty arena," notes Ángel, who faces Fernando Ibarra (2-3) in a schedule six-round bantamweight clash. "I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to showcase my talents on PBC."

Saturday's affair will also mark their first piece of ring action since graduating from Durango High School in Las Vegas this past May. Social distancing measures disallowed a full-blown graduation party, though their father and head trainer, Richard Barrientes was able to arrange a surprise drive-by celebration behind their Pound4Pound Boxing Gym in Vegas.

The best present they've received to date is the opportunity to appear in front of a nationally televised audience.

"Me and my brother Chavez have talked about this day since we started boxing at seven years old and to know it's around the corner is a little surreal," notes Ángel, a 14-time amateur champion. "Just know that we couldn't be more grateful for this opportunity. We are ready."

Added Chavez, an 11-time amateur champ: "It’s a blessing to have my U.S debut televised on PBC on FS1…it can’t get better than that. I have some butterflies, but that's natural. I just want to perform at an elite level.”
