For years now it has been customary to see victorious athletes appear on nationally televised commercials gleefully proclaiming, "I am going to Disneyland!"

While you never saw Marco Antonio Barrera on national television spouting, "¡Me voy para Disneylandia!," after his victory over Erik Morales, that is exactly what he has done in recent days.

Following a meeting with executives at Golden Boy Promotions aimed at plotting the next move in the Baby-Faced Assassins Hall of Fame career, Barrera is enjoying a few days off at Disneyland with his family.

A November 2004 victory over Erik Morales has refueled Barrera’s career and set-off numerous reports and articles which ponder the Mexican’s next move. Roberto Diaz, an assistant close to Barrera, said meetings with Golden Boy Promotions produced one likely thing, an April return to the ring.

According to Diaz, Golden Boy was interested in bring Barrera back in May, but Marco is anxious to step back into the ring and requested an April return. No specific date was set nor has an opponent been finalized.

Various Latin America newspapers have mentioned Dominican fighter Joan Guzman as a possible opponent. When the name of Guzman was brought up to Diaz, he stated that the Dominican’s name has never been brought up as an opponent for Barrera.

All of the possible opponents discussed by the boxing media present problems due to scheduling. Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao, Scott Harrison, Injin Chin, and Oscar Larios all have fights scheduled and a quick turn around fight with Barrera in April is doubtful. Team Barrera and Golden Boy Promotions are working diligently to find Barrera a suitable opponent.

San Antonio, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas have all been mentioned as potential venues for Barrera’s next bout.
