Maxwell Awuku is planning to shake up the entire super featherweight division when he faces WBC world champion Miguel Berchelt on Saturday night at the Oasis Arena in Cancun, Mexico.

Moments before taking his flights to head over to Mexico, late replacement Awuku assured that he will drill Berchelt before a backed Cancun crowd, in a televised headliner on TV Azteca.

Awuku (44-3-1, 30 KOs) will be departing along with his team from his native Accra, Ghana, stopping in Paris and then take a direct flight to Cancun and arrive at 5:15 in the afternoon on Tuesday.

The pride of the region, Berchelt, has already been in his beloved Cancun since Sunday night - performing exercises with care, taking care of his weight and complying with the promotional events prior to his expected presentation at the International Arena Oasis.

"The Mexicans believe that they will take me by surprise and I am not prepared, they have made a big mistake, I will spoil the party before for their people, I will knock out their champion and then I will go to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Cancun," Awuku said.

The challenger has some power in his hands, with 44 wins that are filled up with 30 endings by knockout.

"I'm not just a puncher. I'm a natural and a quick counter-puncher. We Africans are brave, with a lot of professional shame. To fight for the title of the world and the WBC belt is a unique opportunity that will change my life and my family and I will not waste it. I want to thanks everyone who intervened for me to be in Mexico to fulfill a dream," said Awuku.

Awuku is the third opponent to jump in to this fight. Initially, Berchelt was scheduled to face former world champion Cristian Mijares, but the contest fell apart because Mijares' team was not satisfied with terms of the television deal.
