Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams has secured the step up in opposition that he has sought all year.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the undefeated rising contender will next face Canada’s Steve Rolls. The middleweight bout will serve in supporting capacity to the September 23 Richardson Hitchins-Jose ‘Chon’ Zepeda DAZN headliner in Orlando.

The development comes in the aftermath of Boxing Scene’s breaking news report of Williams’ placement on the show as final details were being sorted out on his confirmed opponent.

Williams (14-0, 10KOs)—a Milwaukee native who now lives and trains in Houston, Texas—was previously in line to face England’s Felix Cash earlier this year. However, Cash declined to move forward with plans for a targeted March date and again when the matchup resurfaced for a possible summertime slot.

It led to the 27-year-old southpaw moving on to a relevant name that could help him transition towards a title run within his next couple of fights.

Toronto’s Rolls (22-2, 12KOs) has lost only to former two-time unified middleweight titlist Gennadiy Golovkin in June 2019 and unbeaten super middleweight Edgar Berlanga last March. Both fights took place on Madison Square Garden grounds in New York City and well above the 160-pound limit.

Rolls rebounded from his hard-fought unanimous decision defeat to Berlanga with a ten-round points win over unbeaten Shady Gamhour last July 21 in his Toronto hometown.

Williams last fought in an eighth-round knockout of River Wilson-Bent on April 1 in London. The bout aired as part of a DAZN telecast headlined by former two-time unified heavyweight titlist Anthony Joshua’s twelve-round points win over Jermaine Franklin.

Williams-Rolls accompanies the terrific Hitchins-Zepeda crossroads bout along with the Jessica McCaskill-Sandy Ryan welterweight unification championship. Chicago’s McCaskill defends her lineal, WBC and WBA crown after she was stripped of her IBF and WBO belts. England’s Ryan won the vacant WBO title after defeating undefeated contender Marie Pier Houle earlier this year and attempts her first defense in what will mark her U.S. debut.
