Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is planning to match two of his featherweights, Luis Alberto Lopez and Michael Conlan, at some point in 2023.

Both boxers were in action earlier this month.

Lopez traveled over to Leeds to pull off a twelve round decision over Josh Warrington to capture the IBF featherweight title.

On the same night over in Belfast, Conlan bounced back from his knockout loss to Leigh Wood by picking up a first round demolition of Karim Guerfi.

Lopez has been riding a hot streak of big wins, over fighters such as Cristian Baez, Andy Vences, Gabe Flores, Isaac Lowe and now Warrington. The Mexican fighter has been unbeaten in his last ten fights.

Conlan was undefeated until earlier this year, when he channeled Wood for the WBA "regular" title.

He dropped Wood hard at the end of the first round and rocked him several times in the first half. Wood was able to rally in the second half of the fight, by dropping Conlan in the eleventh and then knocking him out cold in the twelfth and final round - with Conlan being knocked out of the ring and to the floor.

Conlan is hoping to face Lopez on St. Patrick's Day weekend, in New York City or Belfast.

“I have matchmakers at Top Rank who told me that the kid had a hell of a shot with Warrington. I didn’t think so, but he was certainly able to handle him," Arum told Talk Sport.

“I think now the plan is to put him in with Mick Conlan some time next year… I think that’s the fight for Lopez that would attract the most interest on both sides of the pond.”
