Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum was not surprised by last Saturday's brutal knockout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs), who never fought beyond the welterweight limit, moved up to a catch-weight of 155-pounds to challenge WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).

When the contest was first announced, Arum made a prediction that Canelo would win by knockout and more than likely would achieve that ending in the first half of the fight.

Arum always considered the fight to be a mismatch and he believes the arena was not sold out because a lot of fans viewed the match in the same light.

"Anybody who knows boxing knew how that fight would end. The only open question was what round [Canelo knocks Khan out], because Khan had no business being in the ring with Canelo," Arum told BoxingScene.com.

"Canelo goes into the ring at 180-pounds. Luckily Khan didn't get hurt. I mean he got knocked out, but he wasn't hurt. That was a mismatch and the public realized it was a mismatch."

Canelo had lost a few of the early rounds when he was troubled by Khan's speed and movement. Even after the shaky start by Canelo, Arum was still confident the contest was going to have one conclusion.

Arum does not view Khan as being an elite fighter and had no doubt that Canelo would close the show with a big shot.

"Canelo fought a very intelligent fight. He lost a couple of rounds. I had him losing two rounds, maybe he lost three. But eventually you knew how the fight was gonna end.  He was getting in close to Khan every time and eventually one of the punches was gonna land and it was gonna be over," Arum explained.

"Khan doesn't have the greatest chin and he makes mistakes - and he's not a top fighter. The truth is - he's not. He makes believe that he won the gold medal in the Olympics but he only won the silver."
