Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes three division champion Vasiliy Lomachenko, says his boxer is highly motivated to face WBO, IBF, WBC Franchise, WBA lightweight champion George Kambosos.

Lomachenko was unseated as champion when he lost an upset twelve round decision to Teofimo Lopez in 2020.

And last year, it was Kambosos who pulled off a big upset when he dropped and decisioned Lopez to capture the unified crown.

Kambosos, due to several wins on the road, intends to hold his next fight in Australia - hopefully in a stadium.

Lomachenko is prepared to travel over to Kambosos' backyard.

"We are talking to the Kambosos Jr people about Loma going to Australia, which Loma is prepared to do," said Top Rank's Arum, who promotes Lomachenko.

"It would be a huge fight in Australia. But we have a Covid-19 problem to clear, which I think we can do. This fight, against Kambosos Jr in Australia, is my first-choice for Loma. Loma is well-prepared to do it."

In a recent interview, Lomachenko made it clear that he was willing to head overseas for the opportunity to land Kambosos.

"Of course. I need this chance. I would take it. In this weight division, we have a lot of great fighters so we can organise great fights," Lomachenko said.

Arum co-promoted a major event in Australia several years ago in Brisbane, when over 50,000 fans packed a stadium to watch Jeff Horn pull off a shocking victory over Manny Pacquiao.

Kambosos has several other options he can choose from - like a clash with WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney, who is also ready and willing to travel over to Australia for the fight. Haney is promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing.
