Despite rumours of a possible WBC world title shot against light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, it now appears that Madrid’s Gabriel Campillo (25-6-1, 12 KOs) looks set to face devastating Russian puncher Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7 KOs) instead, a source involved confirmed to BoxingScene. The fight will take place on April 4th in Quebec, with Adonis Stevenson seeing action in the main event.

Recently signed by Al Haymon, former WBA titleholder Campillo has faced  a host of top light heavyweight competition in recent years and enjoyed a successful 2014 with three stoppage victories in a row following a 2013 stoppage loss to Andrzej Fonfara.

The two men share a common opponent in the form of Tavoris Cloud who was dispatched in two rounds by Beterbiev while Campillo suffered a highly controversial split decision loss to the Floridian.
