An opponent has been named for Jose 'Chelo' Gonzalez' ring return this weekend in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The lightweight contender will face Portugal's Antonio Joao Bento, in a supporting bout to a super flyweight eliminator between McJoe Arroyo and Mark Anthony Geraldo.

The bout marks the first fight back for Gonzalez (22-1-1, 17KOs) since his failed bid at then-lightweight titlist Ricky Burns on the road in Scotland last May. The visiting Boricua was well up on all three scorecards when he decided to retire on his stool after nine rounds due to a wrist injury.

Post-fight reaction to Gonzalez' decision was hardly supportive, though it remains to be seen if time has healed such emotional wounds.

Bento (27-14-2, 15KOs) has fought all around the world through nearly 16 years as a pro, but fights in Puerto Rico for the first time in his career. The 38-year old comes in riding a three-fight win streak, including a 5th round stoppage of Orlando Maciel earlier this month at home in Portugal.

Another comeback is featured on the undercard, as Roman 'Rocky' Martinez resurfaces for the first time in more than a year. The 30-year old has been out of action since his 130 lb. title reign came to an end in an 8th round knockout loss to Mikey Garcia last November.

An official opponent has yet to be found for Martinez (27-2-2, 16KOs).

The main event battle –which tops a DirecTV-distributed Pay-Per-View show—between Arroyo (15-0, 8KOs) and Geraldo (31-4-3, 14KOs) will decide the mandatory challenger for 115 lb. titlist Zolani Tete.
