BoxingScene.com caught up with welterweight contender Aron Martinez (20-4-1) who scored what may go down as the the 2015 "Upset of the Year" when he defeated former two-division world champion Devon Alexander (26-4) last Wednesday in Glendale, Arizona. The bout was televised on ESPN as part of their monthly Premier Boxing Champions series.

This past June, Martinez lost a split decision to Robert Guerrero in a fight that many observers felt he deserved to win.  He admitted to being nervous when the scores were being announced for the bout with Alexander (97-93 twice and 96-94).

"I heard the scores and I was like here we go again but you know they got the scores right and I am happy to get the win," Martinez revealed to BoxingScene.com.

Martinez has long been a gatekeeper and has faced many of the top fighters in the welterweight division. After this victory he should be in position to get an even bigger fight and Martinez said that he had no problem facing anyone in the division.

"Like I keep saying, whoever they want to put in front of me I will fight.  I am always the underdog and I just keep fighting. That isn't going to change. I will whoever," Martinez explained who said that he planned on taking a short break then get right back into training.

"I've been in training camp for almost six months between both fights.  I just to take a little break with my family then see whats next."
