Armando Torres' luck continues to change for the better.

The veteran spoiler hit a pair of milestones after outpointing countryman Juan 'Pinky'Alejo over ten rounds in their Telemundo-televised main event Friday evening  live from Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City.

Scores were 99-92, 98-93 and 98-92 in favor of Torres, who had to overcome a late fight cut in order to make it to the finish line and extend his win streak to five straight.

Torres (26-18, 19KOs) controlled the action in the early going, looking to force a hectic pace to which he's accustomed in a string of early round knockouts. Alejo (25-7-1, 14KOs) proved a stubborn target, showing grit befitting a former title challenger in search of career redemption.

Still, it was an uphill battle for the 36-year old Guadalupe native, whose best moments were isolated and failing to seize momentum long enough to upend Torres in his hometown. The closest either fighter came to suffering a scare occurred in round eight, when a clash of heads left Torres with a deep cut to which he was forced to contend for the balance of the fight.

It didn't play a role in the outcome, other than serving as a nuisance. The two exchanged down the stretch until the final bell, a place where Torres hasn't enjoyed much success in recent years. In fact, the night marked his first decision win since 2012, having gone 2-9 immediately thereafter including four decision defeats along the way.

Six straight losses also came of that stretch before turning around his career, beginning with a pair of confidence building wins to comprise of his 2018 campaign. A full resuscitation came in Torres' shocking 1st round knockout of Ganigan Lopez on these very airwaves last October, also taking place at this venue. Friday's win gives Torres his fifth in a row, a lengthy streak he hasn't enjoyed since jumping out to a 7-0 career start some 20 years ago.

Alejo is now just 1-3-1 in his last five starts. Included among the lot is a title fight loss to now former 108-pound titlist Angel 'Tito' Acosta and a Telemundo-televised 8th round knockout to Jonathan 'Bomba' Gonzalez in November 2018.
