Arizona - In his second fight since upsetting highly touted prospect Felix Verdejo, lightweight contender Antonio Lozada (40-2-1) was held to a split draw against Hector Ambriz (12-7-2) in a stay busy bout.

After Ambriz started fast, Lozada switched up his attack and went to the body as much as he went to the head and had Ambriz in retreat mode by the middle rounds.

Ambriz was able to finish the fight well and probably ruined the plans of a potential Teofimo Lopez-Antonio Lozada showdown that was rumored to be in works for December. The final tallies read 78-74 for Lozada, 73-79 for Ambriz and 76-76.

Recent Top Rank signee Francisco De Vaca (19-0) notched another victory with a hard fought unanimous decision over Jesus Serrano (17-6-2) in a very entertaining battle. The final scores were 79-72 and 78-73 twice.

The fight was fought in a phone booth as neither man took many steps backwards. Serrano went down midway through the 4th round.  He appeared to slip but was hit as he lost his footing and the referee ruled it a knockdown.

Both De Vaca and Serrano switched back and forth from orthodox to southpaw throughout the fight.  Both guys had moments of success but the 23-year-old De Vaca consistently landed the better punches to earn the win.

Local favorite Carlos Castro (21-0) out boxed Diuhl Oguin (13-11-3) over 8 rounds to win an unanimous decision. After a couple feeling out rounds, Castro put his foot on the gas in the third round and started to land his uppercut. Oguin was never able to get into a rhythm as Castro's far superior footwork was always a step ahead of him.

Castro landed several hard shots but Olguin didn't ever appear to be hurt. With the win the super bantamweight prospect is close to securing a title. 80-72 77-75 and 79-73 were the judges scores.
