Dolphil Promotions are delighted to announce plans for the next fight night which will take place in The National Basketball Arena, Tallaght, Friday December 10.

Daniel Halpin explains what to expect on Dec 10. “Our last show in Citywest was a resounding success and we expect this to be no different. We will be showcasing the best our stable has to offer including one or two surprises which we will announce closer to the event. This will be the biggest night of boxing ever held in Tallaght and tickets are very reasonably priced.”

The fight night which has been dubbed ‘The Prides Path to Glory’ will see Dublin’s Anthony ‘The Pride’ Fitzgerald fight for the WBF Inter-Continental title.

“We see this simply as a stepping stone for Fitzy, we want him consistently fighting at the championship distance so we have opted to go for this belt. There is a big title shot around the corner for him so the title fight in Limerick along with this belt will be perfect preparation for him”

December 10th will be his fifth outing this year and he is relishing the chance to fight for an International title.

“A happy boxer is a busy boxer and credit to my management team in securing all these fights for me. After the last (Robbie) Long fight I felt that the time was right to take the step up in class and that is what we are working on at the minute. I’m happy to be fighting for another title, it may not be the most recognized but in my eyes it’s another title and another ten rounds under my belt. I have had great sparring with Kenny (Egan) and both of the McDonaghs, which for me that is probably the best sparring you’ll get in Ireland”.

Don O’Leary believes Dec 10 at the Basketball Arena should not be missed. “We’re going to have around 10 top class bouts on the night. With the success of Willie (Casey) since our last show, Fitzy now has his chance to show the fans what he’s capable of in his first headliner.”

Also set for action on the night are the highly rated brothers Paddy and JJ McDonagh. This will be their first outing since signing for Dolphil Promotions and both are hard at work under the guidance of Head Coach Phil Sutcliffe. “We are delighted to have signed these two lads, as I have said before these two are the real deal and we have every confidence of making them both champions. They are getting great sparring in our stable which will only help them progress further.”

Patrick Hyland who also will be fighting on the ‘young guns’ show in Castlebar will make his first home appearance in over a year at The National Basketball Arena. With an impressive 20 wins in 20 outings the last time the Tallaght man fought in his hometown was when he dismantled Abdu Tebazalwa to claim the IBF title, since then ‘Pajo’ has notched up a further three wins keeping his perfect record firmly intact and further enhancing his claims as a true European title contender. Promoter Don O’Leary is delighted to have Hyland fighting on the Dolphil show, “with ‘Pajo’ you have one of the brightest prospects in the country fighting in his backyard so we’re looking forward to a classy performance from him. The boy is just excellent, and those in attendance will be looking at probably another future European Champion”.

Making serious moves in their respective divisions are the Cork based Cuban sensations Mike ‘the rebel’ Perez (11-0) and Alexei ‘the hurricane’ Collado (13-0).

Perez, who amazingly fought twice in one night on the undercard of the Lee v Thiam fight in Limerick back in May, is being touted as a World Champion in the making and is set to wow the Tallaght crowd with another dazzling display. Fellow compatriot and also undefeated fighter Alexei Collado comes to Tallaght with a very impressive 13 KO’s from 13 fights and with the nickname of ‘the hurricane’, fight fans can be sure to expect another powerful performance from the Cuban.

Since her last outing in Citywest last August, Irelands first female professional Christina McMahon has been preparing tirelessly for her next appearance. The former kickboxing World Champion believes she can become a World Champion and Phil Sutcliffe has no doubts Dolphil Promotions’ prize girl will do just that. “Every day Chrissy is improving in the Gym, she has some right hand on her and is becoming much more fluent in the ring. To become a World Champion at any discipline tells you how determined she is and I have no doubt whatsoever she will become World Champion in boxing, we hope all the fans will get behind their only girl like they have with Katie Taylor in the amateurs.”

Brendan Fitzpatrick will be looking to make maintain his perfect record at The National Basketball Arena. The talented Dubliner remains unbeaten and is definitely one to watch for the future. Gavin Prunty will also fight on the bill in a scheduled 6 rounder, the Dubliner is looking to make it 6 straight wins providing he wins in Limerick on the undercard to Willie Casey v Paulie Hyland. Noel O’Brien makes his pro debut also on the undercard
