Angelo Leo and Mike Plania are set to meet at the crossroads.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the featherweight bout is set to headline the January 31 edition of ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fight series from Whitesands Events Center in Plant City, Florida.

The scheduled ten-round regional featherweight title fight will mark Leo’s second straight fight at this venue and weight. The 29-year-old Albuquerque, New Mexico native—who now lives and trains in Las Vegas—officially moved up prior to his ninth-round knockout victory over Nicolas Polanco last November 1 on this same platform.

Leo (22-1, 10KOs) previously held the WBO junior featherweight title. He defeated Tramaine Williams over twelve rounds in their August 2020 vacant title fight between unbeaten contenders. Leo was originally due to face then-unbeaten Stephen Fulton, against whom he dropped a lopsided decision in their rescheduled January 2021 meeting to end his reign.

Two wins have followed for Leo, though spread out over a span of nearly two-and-a-half years. He barely edged Aaron Alameda over ten rounds in their June 2021 bout which marked his last at junior featherweight.

Plania hopes to emerge as a contender after having suffered two crushing defeats within his past five starts.

The 26-year-old from General Santos City, Philippines previously rose to prominence after a June 2020 upset win over rising prospect Joshua Greer Jr. It put him on a path to contention, though he fell flat in a September 2022 ten-round shutout defeat to then-unbeaten Ra’eese Aleem at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Plania has since won three of his last four. All three victories have come via first-round knockouts versus club-level opposition. He was knocked out in the third round of his DAZN-aired junior featherweight clash versus Elijah Pierce last August 4 in Atlanta. Plania returned home for a first-round knockout of Daniel Nicolas on December 18 in Paranaque City.
