Angel Garcia, the father and trainer of WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, spoke to BoxingScene.com about his son's big victory over Erik Morales, their plans for the future and what happened with the drug testing controversy.

Morales was tested three times by USADA [United States Anti-Doping Agency]. Morales' A and the B samples resulting from the October 3 and October 10 drug tests came up positive for clenbuterol, a banned substance used by some athletes to cut weight. The fighters took another drug test on Wednesday, and Morales' third test had no traces of clenbuterol. Morales claimed that he ate contaminated meat in Mexico.

Despite the negative reading in the third test, Angel Garcia refused to take the fight until his wife convinced him to move forward on Friday night. He says Morales had no idea there was a drug testing protocol involved and the next time around they are going to make it clear to their opponent that USADA will be testing them.

"You know what was going on. Me and my wife had a man and a woman talk. We had a conversation, we talked and we blended. I asked her what do you think - and she said 'let him fight.' Because I was ready to go home because of the testing. He had a small dose in the first two tests, he was positive and the last one came back negative," Angel Garcia told BoxingScene.com.

"Nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes. For the next time, for the next fight......we are going to make clear that there will be anti-doping [tests]. He was basically a blind man. He didn't read the contact [about the tests]. That's why I tell a lot fighters - you got to read."

"I can tell you deep in my heart. Nobody turns down $1 million dollars and I turned down a million dollars [to move forward] because I love him too much. I can't explain to you how much I love Danny. If parents loved their kids the way I love Danny, the world would be a better place."

The fight went forward on Saturday as the Showtime televised headliner at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. And Garcia demolished Morales with a wicked left hook in the fourth round. It was a similar left hand that Garcia used to level Amir Khan in the third round of their July fight.

"I told you he wasn't going to go five rounds. Once Danny warmed up, once Danny starting hitting him. I knew he was going to go down," Garcia said. "That was like a repeat shot [from the Khan fight]. That's a good thing though. That's his logo. That's his code. Danny is great puncher. I'm telling you that from experience and from working in the gym with him, working the pads with him."

"People should love him because Danny will be around for a long time."

Now Angel and his son will look to the future.

"Right now we're going to take a break and sit down and talk. Whatever Al Haymon says we'll think about and take it from there," Garcia said.
