According to Angel Garcia, father and trainer of WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, tomorrow's fight is in jeopardy if Erik Morales' B sample comes back positive for the banned substance clenbuterol. Garcia vs. Morales is the main event of the Showtime televised quadrupleheader at the Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn.

Clenbuterol, which can be used as a weight-loss supplement and is considered a performance-enhancer, was detected in a random drug test administered by the U.S. Anti-doping Agency [USADA]. Morales suggested the positive test was the result of eating contaminated meat, an explanation other athletes have offered for a positive clenbuteral test.

Both fighters made weight earlier today, and the result of Morales' B sample is expected by tonight. According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, the New York State Athletic Commission has the final word on whether or not the fight will proceed. The commission's chairperson, Melvina Lathan, declined to comment.

"The fight's over [if Morales is positive again]," Garcia told BoxingScene.com. "Why do that? I love Danny too much. It doesn't mean nothing to me. His life is too important to me. Why give him the advantage? Danny could [beat him] anywhere he wants to do it."

Angel Garcia said that Morales was tested three times, once at the start of the month and twice over the past two weeks. Garcia said that both the A and the B samples resulting from the October 4 drug test showed that Morales tested positive for clenbuterol. Garcia said the fighters took another drug test on October 10 and yet another on Wednesday. Garcia said he’s waiting for the B results of the two latest tests, which is being "shipped express" from Salt Lake City from USADA.

Morales claims that he spoke to an official of USADA on Friday who he claims “assured” him that the banned substance turned up in such small levels that it wasn't cause for concern and that it was most likely related to consuming contaminated food.

“I just spoke with USADA, and I don't have to tell you guys, but they said not to worry," Morales said through an interpreter. "You are not guilty and the commission has already accepted the fight, so the fight is on,'" he said.
