Undefeated hard-hitting Angel 'Tito' Acosta (12-0 and 12 KO's) is in the crosshairs of inching his way to a crack at the 108-pound championship of the World Boxing Council, but he gets to that he could be measured against tough Filipino Milan Melindo (33-2 and 12 KO's), who is ranked seventh at seventh by the sanctioning body and it would be the first major test for the young knockout artist.

"I hope that by the end of the year I will be fighting for the world title. We are talking of a [a fight with a] Filipino named Melindo. I hope to return in March with Promociones Miguel Cotto in Caguas. I'm 13th in the WBC and hope to move up fast," said the boxer.

In the WBC the current champion is Yu Kimura (18-2-1 and 3 KO's).

Because of his extraordinary punch, Acosta has only banked in 36 rounds on his professional record but he is aware that not every victory will occur before the deadline.

"I know that not everyone will [fall quick inside the distance] because the quality of my opponents will increase. I have be a little better because when I connect with a solid blow to my opponent, I want to finish and I have to be careful," the boxer said.

Acosta, 25, has no problem at the moment making 108 pounds but his height could see him end up as high as bantamweight.

"I find it easy to make 108-pounds and I want to be a champion at that weight. If [that happens], and then an opportunity comes at 112 pounds - I'll accept it. I want to win a title at 108 and then 112 and 118," he added.

Meanwhile, coach Javier Arce, said his pupil is prepared to face any test that is presented in the coming months.

"God willing we hope to fight in Puerto Rico in March. Tito is a dedicated and this year will see very good things about him," the trainer said.
