Super featherweight contender Andy Vences (23-2-1) has revamped his team as he looks to make another run towards a title.

The 29-year-old Top Rank prompted fighter was last in action in July when he dropped a split decision to Luis Alberto Lopez inside of “The Bubble” at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. He suffered a bad cut over his left eye but continued to fight on.

Vences has now lost 2 of his past 3 fights and decided that a change is needed as he attempts to work his way towards a title shot.

Angel Cordon Sr. had served as his trainer but Vences will have a new voice in his corner the next time he enters the squared circle. He has enlisted the services of Charles Perales who owns a gym in Hollister, California, not far from where the San Jose based Vences resides.

"As a fighter, I looked at the problems that I had. In this circumstance, I need training, sparring, defense, and new tools to add to my arsenal, Vences told BoxingScene.com.

“I feel Charles Perales from Hollister, Calif. is a 24 hours a day 7 days a week dedicated coach who has the time to give me and the time to travel for sparring. He also has a lot of creative combinations that I need to add to my arsenal along with defensive midrange catching techniques. I feel like in this case, what I need is some assistance from a coach who can provide me with all these things and I believe Charles is that person. "

Vences hopes to return to the ring before the end of the year.
