It never sat well with Andrew Selby to see his lone in-ring conqueror next land a title shot he's long craved. The pain was eased, however, with the promise of his own career moving forward.

The fallen flyweight contender is set for his first fight back following a shocking stoppage loss to Mexico's Julio Cesar Martinez, as the 30-year old Welshman has been added to a recently announced September 13 show at Caesars Palace in Dubai.

An opponent has yet to be announced for his place on the show, which is topped by Pakistan's Muhammed Waseem who fights for the first time since a failed title bid last summer.

“I’m very excited to be back and I plan on putting on a good show," promises Selby (11-1, 6KOs). “I’ve always wanted to go to Dubai so I’m really looking forward to fighting there on a huge card.”

Selby has long served as a top-rated flyweight contenders, only for injuries to stall his forward progress. He sat out for more than a year, which ultimately cost him a title shot before returning last October. The rust-shaker was followed up by a title-eliminator where the winner was assured a crack at reigning titlist Charlie Edwards.

That opportunity would go to Martinez, who scored one of the year's more notable upsets in stopping Selby in five rounds this past March in Mexico. Martinez now prepares for an Aug. 31 title fight with Edwards, while Selby hopes his own return two weeks later will be the first big step towards re-entering the mix.

“Training has been really hard over the past few months and I have pushed my body to the limits," insists Selby, whose older brother Lee Selby is a former featherweight titlist. "I am really glad that I am fighting so soon after teaming up with MTK Global too, as the more regular I fight the better I perform.

“I had a set back in the last fight but it has made me more determined to achieve great things in boxing. Fans should expect the best Andrew Selby yet and after this fight I want to be out regular and fighting for big titles.”
