Andrew Moloney continued his march Saturday toward a super flyweight world title shot.

The 27-year-old Australian scored a 10th-round technical knockout victory over two-time champion Luis Concepcion in a 115-pound fight ESPN+ streamed live from Bendigo Stadium in Bendigo, Australia. Moloney (18-0, 11 KOs) was winning the fight on the scorecards before it was stopped 1:58 into the final round because Panama’s Concepcion was taking too much punishment.

The 32-year-old Concepcion (37-7, 26 KOs), a former flyweight and super flyweight champion, is 2-3 in his past five fights. He lost by technical knockout for the third time in his 12-year pro career.

Moloney finished the fight strong by consistently cracking Concepcion with straight right hands in the 10th round. Concepcion didn’t go down during that onslaught, but he wasn’t protecting himself and took too many flush punches for the fight to continue.

Moloney drilled Concepcion with a hard right hand that stopped him in his tracks early in the ninth round. Later in the ninth, Moloney hit Concepcion with two jabs and then a right hand that buzzed Concepcion.

Concepcion continued to get back into the fight in the eighth round. He out-landed Moloney in that round and was the aggressor in a second straight round.

After having a lot of success in the sixth round, Moloney moved a lot in the seventh round, when blood began trickling from his nose early in it. Concepcion pressured him throughout the seventh round, used his jab and appeared to win it.

Moloney had tremendous success in the sixth round. He spent much of that round pounding Concepcion to the body and landing hard overhand rights.

Before the stoppage, the fourth round was the best three minutes of the fight for Moloney. He landed an array of right hands, left hooks and body shots in those three minutes.

Moloney won rounds before the fourth, but he was more cautious and less active in the first three rounds before he began unloading on Concepcion in that round. Moloney most used his jab early in the fight to try to keep Concepcion at a distance.
