Andrew Moloney heads home in search of restoring his winning ways.

The former WBA “World” junior bantamweight titlist is set for his scheduled ten-round regional title fight versus Philippines’ Froilan Saludar. Both boxers made weight for the fight, which will air live on ESPN+ this Tuesday from The Star Event Centre in Sydney, Australia.

Moloney (21-2, 14KOs) weighed right at the 115-pound limit, while the well-traveled Saludar (32-4-1, 22KOs) checked in at 114.5 pounds for his third road appearance in his last four fights.

For Moloney, the fight is his first against someone not named Joshua Franco for the first time since November 2019. It has also been that long since the 30-year-old Australian has fought on home soil, when he stopped Elton Dharry after the eighth round of their WBA interim title fight in Melbourne.

Moloney was upgraded to WBA “World” titlist just three months later, upon Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez dethroning England’s Kal Yafai last February and receiving immediate recognition as the sanctioning body’s “Super” champion. Moloney’s hopes of making his way to a mandatory title challenge against the legendary Gonzalez were thwarted in suffering his first career defeat, a 12-round decision to San Antonio’s Franco last June at MGM Grand Garden Conference Center in Las Vegas.

The two met in a rematch in the same venue five months later, where Moloney believed to have earned a stoppage win to regain his title. The verdict was instead ruled a No-Decision, with the verdict upheld after a lengthy on-site review period. Their trilogy bout took place this past August in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Moloney suffering another twelve-round, unanimous decision defeat.

The aim now for Moloney is to make another title reign in the lucrative junior bantamweight division, to which he hopes to plead his case beginning with a win on Tuesday.
