Andre Ward (27-0, 14 KOs) could soon be close to a ring return.

The undefeated super middleweight had some surprising news Friday, announcing that he's signed with Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports.

“It's official,” Ward declared, posting a picture through his social media account

of his signing with RNS. (The next chapter of my career).

Happy to be a part of the ( Roc Nation Sports)

family.”

Roc Nation Sports, of course, just merged with Gary Shaw Productions and absorbed his stable of fighters, which includes the likes of Bryant Jennings and Daniel Geale. But Ward represents the kind of splash Roc Nation has been trying to make since last year, when it failed to sign fighters such as Deontay Wilder and Keith Thurman to lucrative deals.

Ward last fought in November 2013, when he easily beat Edwin Rodriguez on HBO. He's been on the sideline since as he repeatedly brought litigation against Goossen Promotions in an attempt to break free from his deal. It's unclear at this time if Goossen has released Ward from the contract, or if this news is just the start of more messiness for the talented fighter.

Hopefully he'll be back in the ring soon.

It's official!! #NextChapter Happy to be a part of the @rocnation family. #RocNationSports #SOG
