GLENDALE, Arizona – Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams envisions headlining his own blockbuster event in the near future, with plenty of fight big fight experience already leading to that point.

The budding contender is set for his clash with Simon ‘Vikingo’ Madsen, with their battle of unbeaten middleweights taking place on the Juan Francisco Estrada-Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez trilogy undercard at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona (Saturday, DAZN ‘Before The Bell’, 5:00 p.m. ET). The bout is the fifth in a span of exactly 52 weeks for Williams, who already has his next fight lined up with a win on Saturday.

Waiting in the wings is a WBA semifinal title eliminator with England’s Felix Cash, a pending matchup used as fuel to shine on the undercard of yet another big event in the sport.

“Knowing that I got Felix Cash next is even more motivating to me,” Williams told BoxingScene.com. “It makes this guy [Madsen] even more dangerous to my career. He’s now an obstacle in my way of me getting to at least two championship level fights. That brings more fire. I’ve worked so hard to get to this level. Now I got this guy who wants to take that all away from me. Now I got an even bigger fire burning.”

Williams (12-0, 9KOs) has truly rediscovered his swagger following a lengthy break—by his career standards—following a win on the undercard of the Estrada-Gonzalez rematch last March 13 in Dallas. A much-needed nine-month break followed, in large part as a mental health reset.

The Milwaukee-born southpaw, now based out of Houston, returned with a vengeance, beginning with a second-round knockout of Quatavious Cash on the Devin Haney-Joseph Diaz Jr. undercard last December 4 in Las Vegas. The win was followed by a sixth-round stoppage on the John Ryder-Daniel Jacobs undercard on February 12 in England. Less than three months later came a statement-making first-round knockout of unbeaten Chordale Booker on the historic Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In his most recent outing, Williams earned a ten-round decision over Kieron Conway as part of the Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez-Gennadiy Golovkin trilogy on a September 17 DAZN Pay-Per-View from Las Vegas.

Saturday’s appearance expects to be the last for Williams on the prospect level, with aspirations of challenging for a title in a dormant middleweight division in the year ahead. That begins with winning and impressing versus Madsen (13-0, 10KOs), a Danish middleweight based out of Cancun where he has earned the ‘Vikingo’ moniker.

“I don’t look past nobody. I like knowing what’s ahead so I can get motivated,” noted Williams, whose manager Sam Katkovski has guided Regis Prograis to his second major title reign just one week ago. “That’s what this is here. I got Felix Cash waiting, and I know Madsen wants to take this away from me. That’s motivation to not look past him. It makes me say, ‘Oh, you want to take this away from me, I’m about to destroy you.”
