LAS VEGAS – Austin “Ammo” Williams doesn’t think Kieron Conway knows what he signed up for Saturday night.

The brash middleweight prospect predicted during a press conference Thursday at MGM Grand that he’ll demolish England’s Conway even easier than he tore through Chordale Booker in his last fight. Williams overwhelmed Booker with a barrage of power punches, knocked him through the ropes and stopped him in the first round of their 10-rounder April 30 on the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano undercard at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Conway (18-2-1, 4 KOs) hasn’t been knocked out in 21 professional bouts, but Williams (11-0, 9 KOs) promised promoter Eddie Hearn that he’ll handle Conway swiftly in their 10-round, 160-pound bout on the pay-per-view portion of the Canelo Alvarez-Gennadiy Golovkin undercard at T-Mobile Arena.

“I hear the same stuff every, single press conference,” Williams said. “And guys like him, they say they ready, they had the best, you know, training camp of they life or whatever, they fresh and experienced. Eddie, we just heard Chordale Booker say the exact same thing he’s saying right now. So, you know, it’s just gonna get better. What I’m about to do is gonna be worse than what I did to Chordale Booker. And that’s a promise to you.”

Booker (17-1, 7 KOs), of Stamford, Connecticut, was undefeated before Williams stopped him just 2:25 into their 10-round fight.

The 26-year-old Conway lost a split decision to 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Souleymane Cissokho (15-0, 9 KOs) in his most recent action against an unbeaten opponent, a 10-rounder that took place in May 2021 on the Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders undercard at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Conway previously fought to a 12-round split draw with countryman Ted Cheeseman (17-3-1, 10 KOs) in June 2019 at York Hall in London.

Milwaukee’s Williams is a 7-1 favorite according to Caesars Sportsbook, which surprised Conway.

“I feel like this is a second chance for me, because I didn’t put on the performance that I should’ve last year,” Conway said. “But I’m here to get a ‘W,’ and that’s it. I’m ready to go. I feel fresh. I feel very prepared and I’m ready to go Saturday night.”

The 26-year-old Williams has knocked out 82 percent of his professional opponents, but Conway contended that he has already withstood shots from powerful punchers.

“I’ve been there with the explosive [fighters], the fast pace,” Conway said. “So yeah, I’ve got the experience there, too. And I do believe that I’m here to get that ‘W.’ I didn’t know that I was the underdog until this morning. I thought that I was favorite. But it is what it is. I’m coming here – I’m the favorite in my mind. I’m coming here to win.”
