The holidays are not bright for heavyweight contender Amir Mansour (16-0), who received a 14-month prison sentence for violating his probation, according to the News Journal. Mansour, 38-years-old, returned to boxing after serving over an eight year sentence in federal prison for a drug possession conviction. He came back in August 2010 and picked up seven wins over a 16 month span.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert F. Kravetz,  said Mansour was living in a house in Wilmington with another felon and drugs and ammunition were found there.

"Amir has asked me to express the regret he feels at disappointing his family, his fans and his associates in the world of boxing," Mansour's manager, Keith Stoffer, said Thursday night. "He takes full responsibility for the technical violation that has led to his return to incarceration."

Mansour's last fight came on December 2nd, with a second round TKO of Epifanio Mendoza.

"He plans to work hard to try for the earliest possible release, the earliest possible return to training and the earliest possible return to his family and his boxing career," Stoffer said.
