Back in April, former world champion Amir Khan had his £70,000 watch stolen at gunpoint by two men in Leyton, east London.

The 35-year-old Khan was out to dinner with his wife Faryal. When they were walking back to their car - two men ran up to Khan and demanded his watch.

Police have announced that three suspects were arrested - aged 20, 25 and 34 on suspicion of robbery after warrants were carried out on Wednesday morning.

When the robbery took place, Khan was pretty shaken up.

"Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal - luckily she was few steps behind me. Two men ran to me, he asked for my watch whilst having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we're both safe," Khan stated at the time of the incident.

Speaking on Wednesday, Detective Sergeant Lee Warrington of the Met's Specialist Crime Command said: "Tackling robbery is a key priority for the Met and these arrests demonstrate our commitment to taking those intent on using violence, or the threat of violence, off of our streets."

Last month, Khan announced his retirement from the sport.

He last fought back in February, in what was his first bout since July of 2019. He suffered a one-sided stoppage loss at the hands of his career rival, Kell Brook, who himself recently retired from boxing. Khan had the option of exercising an immediate rematch clause, but decided it was best for his health to walk away with his faculties in order.
