Amir Khan has apparently so firmly ensconced himself in retirement that not even the idea of facing Manny Pacquiao holds much interest for him anymore.

Khan, the former junior welterweight titlist from Bolton, England, said in a recent interview that a friend of his received a call from storied trainer Freddie Roach about facing his longtime charge Manny Pacquiao. Khan, who was once trained by Roach, had famously lusted after a fight with Pacquiao – as well as fellow welterweight great Floyd Mayweather – but that match-up never materialized.

Khan said that Roach had told his friend that Pacquiao appears to be angling for either a real fight or exhibition bout with Khan, in the United Kingdom, as a result of the fact that Pacquiao, a senator in his native Philippines, recently lost his bid in the presidential election. Pacquiao, 43, last fought in August, a points loss to Yordenis Ugas of Cuba.

“You know I got another phone call today, another one – Well, a friend of mine got a phone call from Freddie Roach who just said that ‘We want to get a fight – you know, Manny didn’t win the election,’” Khan told IFL TV in a video that was published on Sunday. “‘Let’s do, like, an exhibition with Manny or a proper fight.’ They want to do it in the UK.”

Khan, however, admitted that the allure of a Pacquiao fight is no longer as bright as it had been when he was a top name in the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions. Khan also recently claimed that Mayweather had also reached out to him about taking part in an exhibition bout.

Khan retired earlier this spring after his sixth-round stoppage loss at the hands of Kell Brook at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

“You know what, all that bullsh!t, chasing Mayweather, chasing Manny Pacquiao – you know, it was not meant to happen then, maybe it’s not meant to happen now,” Khan said. “I’m not going to chase them now.”

“I kind of laughed about it,” Khan continued. “I didn’t even want to mention it. It’s probably all bollocks to be honest with you. That’s one phone call I got today. Freddie Roach was on the phone, Manny Pacquiao and ‘AK’, and I’m like, ‘alright, man, Freddie, nice one.’ Tell him it’s alright, man."
