Former world champion Amir Khan, 36-years-old, believes there is "interest" in a fight with eight division champion Manny Pacquiao.

Khan and Pacquiao had been sparring partners during a period of time when both were trained by Freddie Roach.

A few years ago, the fighters announced a showdown on social media, and it was slated to take place in the Middle East, but the event's promoters were unable to show proof of funds and the fight fell apart.

Khan has been out of the ring since getting stopped in a one-sided fight with rival Kell Brook in February 2022.

Pacquiao, 44-years-old, retired from the sport after suffering a decision loss to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.

Khan retired last year, but he's open to the idea of fighting Pacquiao.

According to Khan, the Saudis have expressed their interest in making that fight a reality next year.

After the performance in his last outing, Khan would like to finish up his career on a better note.

“Look, it’s a tough one because you get different things told to you,” Khan said to IFL TV.

“There is interest, Manny’s team want it, the Saudis want [the] fight in Abu Dhabi. It would be massive. A fight with Manny would definitely motivate [me]. I think he would be perfect.

“We sparred a lot, we know a lot about each other. My last fight against Kell wasn’t the best fight to finish. I feel I’m a lot better than that.”

Since retiring, Pacquiao has been entertaining exhibition fights and plans to take part in at least two of them in 2024. The Filipino star is also chasing the possibility of being a part of the 2024 Olympic team for the Philippines.
