As BoxingScene.com previously reported, the World Boxing Council (WBC) elevated Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano to the 126-pound champion due to Jelena Mrdjenovich's unavailability to comply with the mandatory defense against the Puerto Rican boxer.

Several weeks ago, the WBC ordered the match between Serrano and Mrdjenovich. Both parties were informed that they had until February 5 to negotiate the fight and, if an agreement was not reached on or before the established date, the auction process would take place.

“Once the negotiation process started, we were quickly informed that they did not want the fight with Amanda and I must admit that we were not surprised because Jelena always says in her interviews that she is willing to fight with anyone, she even mentions names, but never mentions Amanda who is one of the world champions of the division,” said Jordan Maldonado, Serrano's coach and manager, to Carlos Gonzalez.

Serrano (39-1-1, 29 KO) also holds the world featherweight title from the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

"Amanda just wants to be the undisputed world champion at 126 pounds to bring glory to Puerto Rico and she will do it," said Maldonado.

“Amanda has been evaded despite the fact that she is the mandatory challenger for champions Raja Amasheh (former 115-pound champion), Sabrina Pérez in two divisions (118 and 122), Ana Esteche, who was going to face Amanda for the 140 titles. pounds, but she lost a non-title fight and the titles were taken from her and now Jelena is out the back door, but Amanda's dream is still intact and firm."

Serrano will defend the WBO and WBC world championships on March 25 at the Plaza del Quinto Centenario in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico as part of an event that will be broadcast live on NBC Sports, under the program “Ring City USA”.

Her opponent will be three-division world champion Daniela “La Bonita” Bermudez (29-3-3, 10 KO), of Argentina.

"I'm super happy to have a date and an opponent to defend my beautiful titles. Daniela will come looking to be crowned world champion in four divisions. I think our fight will give a lot to talk about as I understand that there will be a lot of action and, of course, that I am ready for another Puerto Rico war against Argentina. In 2014 I was crowned the 135-pound world champion in Argentina when I beat the champion María Maderna, who had three successful defenses and that may be another motivation for Daniela, but I have my motivations because I come on behalf of Puerto Rico,” Serrano said.
