An Alvarez-Chavez fight will take place tonight.

No, the ‘Canelo’ Alvarez-Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. fight was not moved up a week from May 6.

Instead, it is their siblings that are taking center stage tonight, sort of like an appetizer a week before the all-Mexico showdown at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Ramon Alvarez will square off against Omar Chavez tonight at the Gimnasio Manuel Bernardo Aguirre in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. The 10 round junior middleweight bout will air on beIN Sports en Espanol (11 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. PT) in the U.S. and Azteca TV in Mexico.

Tonight’s fight is a rematch from their clash in September of 2014, a fight won by Alvarez over 10 competitive rounds. How tonight’s fight will play out remains to be seen as both careers have moved in different directions.

Alvarez (24-5-2 1 NC, with 16 KOs) won his next three fights after the Chavez victory before losing a split decision to Antonio Margarito on August 13.

The older brother of ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Ramon was victorious in his last bout on Dec. 17, stopping Matthew Strode in the fourth round.

Chavez (35-3-1, with 23 KOs) has been less active than Alvarez, fighting twice in 2015 and only once in 2016, winning all three fights.

His last fight was on Dec. 10, when he knocked out Cesar Chavez in the opening round in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Four weeks after scoring a second round knockout, unbeaten welterweight Jaime Munguia returns to action tonight. The 20-year-old from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, will face Johnny Navarrete in a 10 round bout.

Munguia (22-0, with 19 KOs) has won his last 13 bouts by knockout.

Navarrete (33-8-1, with 15 KOs) should provide a decent test for Munguia. He has won his last four bouts in a row after dropping his losing his previous two bouts.

Former WBA female bantamweight titleholder Irma Garcia (16-2-1, with 3 KOs) faces Judith Rodriguez (8-11, with 5 KOs) in a 10 round bout.

Unbeaten junior lightweight prospect Bekman Soylybayev (10-0, with 4 KOs) will square off against Samuel Gonzalez (13-4, with 9 KOs). Soylybayev is from Kazakhstan, but now resides and trains in the Los Angeles area.

Hard-hitting welterweight Jorge Garcia (11-0, with 10 KOs) and Juan Gonzalez (17-8, with 10 KOs) will battle in an eight round bout.
