This past Saturday night in Macau, Chris Algieri (20-1, 8KOs) suffered his first career defeat at the hands of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Algieri was dropped six times and lost a very wide twelve round decision.

Algieri, who held the WBO title at 140-pounds, was moving up and met Pacquiao at a catch-weight of 144-pounds. Algieri had some issues at last Friday's weighin and had to step on the scale three times before officially make the contract weight.

Regarding his future, Algieri could very well remain at welterweight. He says Pacquiao's style, and not the weight, was the issue at hand for him in the fight.

"I'm not sure. I'm going to go back to the drawing board and talk to my people. I could have made 140 for this fight. It's not an issue of where I have to go.  It's an option [to remain at welterweight]. I can go to either weight class. I wouldn't say the size and the power was the problem. I was fighting Manny Pacquiao. It wasn't a weight thing. I can contest in either weight class. I'll talk to my team and figure out the best route for my team," Algieri said.
