The EBU council has accepted the request of Erol Ceylan, who heads EC Box Promotion and promotes EBU cruiserweight champ Aleksander Alekseev, to stage a rematch between Alekseev and Firat Arslan. The two fought to a draw earlier this month after twelve action-packed rounds that left both camps disappointed.

Arslan was almost as strong as ever in putting pressure on the champ while Alekseev, the by far superior boxer, disappointed his trainers by fighting Arslan´s fight in many rounds and he only managed to secure a draw by going all out in the last round.

There´s a term for private negotiations that will expire on June 23 and if there´s no agreement the EBU will call for purse bids.
