Super bantamweight contender Alejandro "Alex" Valdez (24-5, 18KOs) returned in a big way in Durango, Mexico, blasting out Nicaraguan boxer José Gutiérrez (13-10, 10KOs) in four rounds. Valdez showcased his excellent condition with a combination of technical boxing and overwhelming power. He punished the brave Nicaraguan in every round until the referee decided to stop the fight in the fourth.

Valdez returns from what he felt was a blatant robbery by the judges in his last bout in Atlantic City against unbeaten Rico Ramos. He feels ready for another title shot.

"We're back to 100% in every respect and we're ready to search for the world title. I am very satisfied with my performance. Zanfer told me that this year they will give me the chance to be crowned champion," Valdez said.
