The Professional Boxing Commission of Panama (Comibox) confirmed that rising junior welterweight contender Alberto 'Machine Gun' Mosquera (19-0-2, 13 KO) failed a drug test, taken after his decision victory over Colombian Fidel Monterrosa (29-7-0, 23 KO) to capture the vacant WBC Latino title on November 17th. Mosquera tested positive for marijuana.

'Now we can confirm that Mosquera tested positive for marijuana, but the boxer himself sent a letter in which he accepted the fact that he made a mistake, and gave an apology to Comibox. He will have to go to a rehabilitation center to overcome this situation," said Marcos Rolando Hermoso, the Comibox President.

The regulations of Comibox state the following: 'In the event that a boxer tests positive for drug use, the commission will declare the bout a no-decision [if the winner tests positive], suspend him immediately and the boxer will have to undergo a rehabilitation process."
