Lesser known Polish promoter Marcin Siwek staged a small show in a small town of Zyrardow in central Poland. The biggest name on the card was involved in the least competitive fight, however, as Albert “The Dragon” Sosnowski (49-7-2, 30 KOs) dropped his Hungarian opponent Andras Csomor (14-10-1, 12 KOs) down with a left-right bomb and finished him soon thereafter in round two.

Heavyweight Sosnowski, aged 37, confirmed it had been his farewell fight in a post-fight interview. Having started his professional career in 1998, Sosnowski compiled a record of 43-1 before losing to American journeyman Zuri Lawrence in August 2008.

He then regrouped, stopping Danny Williams, getting a spirited draw against Francesco Pianeta, and winning the EBU title against Paolo Vidoz – his single best career accomplishment. These series allowed him to get a major opportunity – a shot for the WBC heavyweight crown against Vitaly Klitschko. The Pole was knocked out in the tenth, and he was on the downslide ever since. Until Csomor he hasn’t fought for almost two years.

In what was formally announced as the main event, welterweight Przemyslaw Runowski (11-0, 2 KOs) overcame a spirited challenge by Italy-based Congolese Carel Sandon (19-2, 6 KOs), getting a tough-earned unanimous decision over eight rounds. Scores were: 79-73, 78-74, and 78-75 – for Runowski.

In a minor upset, Andrzej Soldra (12-3-1, 5 KOs), who has a win over Dawid Kostecki in his past, was outboxed just narrowly by Tomasz Gargula (18-1-1, 5 KOs) over eight close rounds. Scores were: 77-75 (twice) – for Gargula, and 77-76 – for Soldra. 41-year old Gargula was coming off his first career loss and fought just for the fourth time since his comeback after eleven years off the ring.

Other results:

Jordan Kulinski (1-0-1, 1 KO) D 6 Norbert Dabrowski (18-4-1, 7 KOs)

Tomasz Piatek (1-0-1) UD 4 Lukasz Janik (16-19-1, 9 KOs)

Daniel Bocianski (5-0, 2 KOs) TKO 3 Vitalijs Parsins (4-7, 4 KOs)
