Former WBA super bantamweight champion Akifumi Shimoda (26-3-1, 11KOs) returned to action at the Korakuen Hall in Toyko, Japan and won an easy ten round unanimous decision over Richard Betos (19-6). The scores were 100-88 and 100-87 twice.

Betos was dominated and went down three times in the contest - in rounds two, four and six. He managed to hold on until the final bell.

Shimoda has now won four in a row since the upset knockout loss to Rico Ramos last July.
