Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz (11-0-1, 6 KOs) will have her second opportunity to challenge for the WBC Interim Super Flyweight Championship when she faces Sonia Osorio (15-7-2, 4 KOs) in 10-round a rematch on Friday, July 29 in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The fight will be featured on a MarvNation Promotions card. Additional details regarding the event, including streaming details, will be announced shortly.

Ruiz is a native of Los Angeles who debuted as a professional in 2017. Since then, she has remained undefeated in 12 fights. Her only setback is a technical draw against Osorio in their first fight. The fight was stopped due to a cut above Osorio’s left eye that was caused by an accidental headbutt. After that, Ruiz bounced back with two stoppage wins over Nancy Franco and Edith Flores. The 33-year-old feels that this rematch is her chance to finish what she started back in March 2021.

“This fight means a lot to me,” said Adelaida Ruiz. “I’ve wanted this fight for more than a year. I felt like they took the title away from me when I fought her in Mexico, but God has given me another opportunity to fight for the title. It’s a big step forward in my career, and I’m willing to sacrifice everything to win. We are training very hard for this fight. Sonia will see a different ‘Cobra,’ both mentally and physically.”

Osorio is a 29-year-old native of Mexico City who has faced top fighters such as Seniesa Estrada and Marlen Esparza. Despite suffering losses in those fights, Osorio earned a shot at Estrella Valverde and defeated her by unanimous decision to capture the WBC Interim Super Flyweight Title. Osorio is confident that she will retain her title against Ruiz.

“I’m very happy to once again fight against Adelaida Ruiz,” said Sonia Osorio. “It’s a fight that has been a long time in the making. Like always, I am working hard. I’m a professional, and I hope to deliver a great fight. I know it will be a great event, and I will retain my title because that’s why I have been training so hard.”

“We are very excited to have gotten this rematch against Sonia Osorio,” said Marvin Rodriguez, CEO and Founder of MarvNation Promotions. “The first fight ended too early, and as a result, the world didn’t get to see how talented Ruiz is in her first title shot. She is an amazing fighter, and I know she will perform. Our goal is to capture all the belts in this weight class, but first we need to take care of business on July 29.”
