Unbeaten junior bantamweight Adelaida Ruiz has signed a promotional deal with Sheer Sports Management, it was announced earlier this week.

“I’m excited to be signing with Sheer Sports,” said Ruiz. “They have a great team and a great reputation for taking care of their fighters. I have no doubt in my mind that with Sheer on my side, I’ll be a champion in multiple weight classes.

Ruiz (14-0-1, 8 knockouts, who resides in the Los Angeles suburb of Lynwood, last fought on June 2 in nearby Temecula, knocking out Argentina’s Maria Cecilia Roman in the eighth and final round. The win over Roman took place about 10 weeks after Ruiz stopped Maria Esther del Angel Diaz in the opening round.

The 34-year-old won the interim WBC Female world title belt on September 8 of last year, defeating Sonia Osorio by unanimous decision.

Currently, Ruiz is ranked No. 1 by the WBA and No. 5 by the WBO at 115 pounds.

Lyle Green, COO of Sheer Sports, believes Ruiz could become the next Female boxing star.

“Adelaida is a champion, inside the ring and out,” said Green. “We are thrilled that she chose Sheer Sports as her management team. Adelaida is an exciting boxer/ puncher destined to be a multiple world champion. We look forward to putting her in the right position to achieve her goals.”

The 34-year-old mother of three children is trained by her father, Juan Ruiz.

No word yet on when Ruiz will return to the ring.
