Marcela Acuña, The Tigress, is world champion again. She defeated in 10, by unanimous decision, Columbian Anays Cecilia Gutierrez Carrillo (9-1-1, 2 KO) at Caseros, for the super bantamweight WBA belt, which was vacant.

Acuña, who was in control all the night, won by unanimous 100-90 scores on all three judges. In front of a more than 4.000 people –full house at Caseros- Acuña won easily.

Marcela, at 29, was the first pro female boxer in Argentina. She made her pro debut in 1997, fighting with Christy Martin at Pompano Beach: she lost by points in a terrific bout. A year later, she was defeated by Lucia Rijker for the super light WIBO belt…

Acuña, who is managed by his husband, Ramon  Chaparro, is mother of two kids, and one of the most popular figures in Argentina.

She was world champion in the feather division in 2005 (KOT 3 Maria Andrea Miranda), and a super bantamweight champion of the IBA (KOT 6 Panamian Damnaris Pinock Ortega, Luna Park).

Currently, her record is 20-5, 12KOs. Of course, we are talking about female boxing. But, she is a Star. A real Star.
