Abass Baraou’s maiden defense of his EBU European junior middleweight title on June 14 will now take place at a new venue.

Baraou was originally set to face Macaulay McGowan at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, England. But circumstances outside the control of Wasserman Boxing meant the card needed to be moved to the nearby Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton.

Although the site has changed, the date remains the same and all tickets purchased for the original venue will remain valid for the newly arranged site. And the event will be broadcast live and free in the UK on Channel 5 as previously announced.

Germany’s Baraou once again enters the lion’s den against Manchester favorite McGowan, having won the vacant belt in a Fight of the Year contender against Sam Eggington in Telford earlier this year.

The European title clash, which begins immediately after the opening game of Euro 2024 between Germany and Scotland, is supported by a handful of undercard matchups:

– Lerrone Richards will take on the battle-hardened Steed Woodall, aiming to deliver a statement about his plans on becoming a two-time titleholder.

– Prospect Dan Toward will be back in action after a big knockout win in his most recent outing.

– Ryan Kelly and Gerome Warburton collide at super middleweight.

– Darlington’s Ben Marksby, Leeds debutant Ellis Price and rising Liverpool star Mikie Tallon also feature.
